Feast of the Assumption Celebrated in Utah

With the blessing of the Diocesan Primate His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, on August 23, 2026, the faithful community of the Utah mission parish took part in the celebration of the Divine Liturgy on the occasion of the Feast of the Assumption of the Holy Mother of God. The day's celebrant was the Rev. Fr. Gevork Abyan.

In his homily, Fr. Gevork reflected on the meaning of the Feast of the Assumption, highlighting the unique place and role of the Holy Mother of God in the life of the Armenian Church and its faithful. He emphasized that the mystery of the Assumption reminds us that a life lived in faithfulness to God finds its ultimate fulfillment in His presence.

Following the Divine Liturgy, the traditional Blessing of Grapes ceremony was held as an expression of thanksgiving to God for His abundant gifts and blessings. Fr. Gevork then distributed the blessed grapes to the faithful, turning the occasion into a joyful celebration of fellowship.

The day concluded with a warm gathering, during which Fr. Gevork engaged with members of the community and encouraged them to continue their service to the Holy Church and to uphold their spiritual and national values.

The blessed occasion once again brought the Armenians of Utah together around the Armenian Apostolic Church in prayer and fellowship, receiving God’s blessings and preserving the sacred traditions of their heritage with faith, love, and unity.
