STATEMENT OF THE DIOCESAN ASSEMBLY
Published - 9 May 2019

The Diocesan Council, during their inaugural meeting following the 92nd Diocesan Assembly, celebrated the delegates’ outstanding show of unified devotion and engagement regarding the ongoing mission of the Diocesan Primate, H.E. Abp. Hovnan Derderian, and the Western Diocese collectively through its relevant programs, diligent organizations, and vibrant parishes. The thoughtful and productive conversations about resolutions, by-laws, and other matters, contributed to the rich and multifaceted collaboration of clerical and lay leadership in the life of the Armenian Church. Furthermore, the Diocesan Council affirmed and applauded the statement made by the Assembly of Diocesan Clergy, which celebrated the Primate’s 16 years of devoted service and firmly condemned “the unsubstantiated assaults upon his character and his ministry.” The Diocesan Council encourages all the faithful of the Armenian Church to follow their pastoral example and “stand resolved to the principles of Light and Truth,” for such is the way proclaimed by Jesus Christ (John 18:37). Their meeting was adjourned in the spirit of hope and joy as the Council members renewed the dedication to realize essential and vital work for the benefit of the Armenian Community in the Western Diocese and the Motherland of Armenia.
