Isabel Bayrakdarian: Centuries-Old Echoes of Armenian Song and Prayer

Some melodies are heard not only by the ear, but by the heart. They awaken memories and reconnect us with the roots from which our history and identity have emerged.

The Los Angeles Armenian community will have the opportunity to experience a special musical evening on Sunday, November 1, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. Under the auspices of His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Primate of the Western Diocese, and organized by the Zvartnots Cultural Association, the concert “Songs, Prayers and Lullabies of the Past” will be presented at the St. Leon (Ghevontiants) Armenian Cathedral in Burbank.

Internationally acclaimed Armenian-Canadian soprano Isabel Bayrakdarian will headline the concert, with Kevork Mourad appearing as a special guest.

The program promises more than an evening of exceptional music; it will offer a spiritual and cultural journey into the rich heritage of Armenian song and prayer—songs that have connected generations, prayers preserved across centuries, and lullabies that continue to carry the voice of our people.

The concert will provide an opportunity to rediscover treasured works of Armenian musical heritage that have transcended time and continue to touch the hearts of new generations, awakening a sense of cultural identity and belonging.

This is more than a concert. It is a return to our roots, our spiritual heritage, and the timeless song that has lived through generations and will continue to resonate in the generations to come.

For additional information, tickets, or reservations, contact Lena Simonian at (818) 383-1322 or Seta Javor at (818) 599-4618.

Come and experience the melodies that bridge the past and present, and join us in celebrating the enduring legacy of Armenian song, prayer, and lullaby.
