In the 1910s, the Armenian Church of Fresno published a monthly periodical titled Etchmiadzin, which served as a comprehensive center for news and information about Armenian community life. For example, the fourth issue, published in 1918, included the following notice to community members:
Notify the church pastor when there is someone who is ill in your home or among your acquaintances; when you know of someone who is imprisoned; when you are aware of individuals experiencing hardship or distress; and when you know of a newcomer to the community.
