Van Nuys Parish Celebrates Archpriest Fr. Shnork Demirjian's 35 Years of Priestly Ministry

On Sunday, August 9, 2026, the faithful of St. Peter Armenian Church of Van Nuys gathered in thanksgiving and celebration to mark the 35th anniversary of the ordination and consecration of their pastor, Archpriest Fr. Shnork Demirjian, into the sacred priesthood. On this auspicious occasion, His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Primate of the Western Diocese, celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Van Nuys parish and joined the community in honoring its devoted pastor.

During the Divine Liturgy, Archbishop Derderian extended his heartfelt congratulations to Archpriest Fr. Shnork and conveyed his sincere wishes for many more years of health, strength, and fruitful ministry. Reflecting on the sacred calling of the priesthood, the Primate spoke of the selfless dedication required of those entrusted with shepherding Christ’s flock and caring for its religious and spiritual needs. “The priesthood is a sacred vocation of selfless love and service,” His Eminence remarked. “For thirty-five years, Fr. Shnork has faithfully embraced this calling, accompanying the faithful with pastoral care and dedicating his life to the spiritual nourishment of God’s people.”

Archbishop Derderian commended Fr. Shnork for his years of devoted service to the Armenian Church and expressed his appreciation for the priest’s steadfast pastoral ministry. He emphasized that the priest is called not only to administer the Holy Sacraments and proclaim the Gospel, but also to walk alongside the faithful through every season of life, offering guidance, consolation, and hope. The Primate prayed that God would continue to bless Fr. Shnork with renewed strength and wisdom as he carries forward his sacred ministry and serves the Van Nuys parish community.

Following the Divine Liturgy, parishioners gathered in the Karagozian Hall of the church for a joyful celebration in honor of their pastor. The gathering featured a celebratory cake and toast, as parishioners expressed their gratitude, affection, and appreciation for Archpriest Fr. Shnork Demirjian. The celebration concluded with prayers and warm wishes for many more years of blessed and fruitful service to the Armenian Church, the faithful entrusted to his pastoral care, and the glory of God.
