Sound Of Children Summer Camp Presents “Dumbo” At The Western Diocese

The Western Diocese of the Armenian Church came alive with music, color, and youthful energy on Thursday, July 30, as the Sound of Children Summer Camp presented a delightful performance of the beloved Disney classic Dumbo at Turpanjian Plaza. Transformed into a charming theatrical setting, the plaza featured a round stage that provided the perfect backdrop for the campers’ wonderful production.

For more than six weeks, the Western Diocese hosted the Sound of Children Summer Camp, offering children a rich and joyful summer experience rooted in Armenian heritage and culture. Throughout the camp, the young participants explored Armenian culture, music, literature, and cuisine, while also engaging in arts and crafts, painting, sports, and a variety of other activities. Their creativity, enthusiasm, and dedication culminated in the Dumbo performance, which delighted the multitude of family members, friends, and guests gathered for the occasion.

Camp Founder and Director Sylvia Kavoukjian expressed her sincere appreciation to the Diocesan Primate, Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, for his steadfast pastoral guidance and support of the camp throughout the years.

In his remarks, Archbishop Derderian warmly congratulated the young performers and encouraged them to make prayer an important part of their lives, to love and cherish the Armenian Church and their heritage, and to listen to and honor their parents and grandparents, who love them dearly and always seek their well-being.

The evening was a joyful celebration of the children’s talents and accomplishments, as well as the enduring mission of the Sound of Children Summer Camp to nurture young hearts and minds through faith, culture, creativity, and community.
