Chronicles Of The Western Diocese's Centennial History With Norayr Poghosyan

Following the decision of the California Representative (Diocesan) Assembly on September 6, 1927, His Holiness Catholicos Kevork V Surenyants, by an encyclical dated November 28, 1927, officially appointed Bishop Karekin Khachadourian as Primate of the newly established Diocese of California. Bishop Karekin had previously served as Primate of the Armenian Diocese of Trabzon.

November 28, 1927, marks the official founding of the Western Diocese.
