Oriental Orthodox Bishops Meet At Western Diocese

On Tuesday, July 28, 2026, the Headquarters of the Western Diocese of the Armenian Church of North America hosted a fraternal gathering of hierarchs representing the Oriental Orthodox Churches in Southern California. His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian welcomed His Eminence Archbishop Kegham Khatcherian, Metropolitan Serapion, Bishop of the Coptic Orthodox Diocese of Los Angeles, and His Eminence Metropolitan Eugene Kaplan, Patriarchal Vicar of the Syriac Orthodox Church of the Western United States.

Held in an atmosphere of Christian fellowship and mutual respect, the meeting provided an opportunity for the bishops to exchange views on current events affecting their respective communities and to discuss matters concerning the life and witness of their sister churches. The hierarchs also reviewed upcoming ecumenical initiatives and reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening cooperation among the Oriental Orthodox Churches.
