Building a Lasting Friendship with Christ

This week, Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Primate of the Western Diocese of the Armenian Church, visited the campers and staff of the Sound of Children Summer Camp at the Diocesan Headquarters. Gathering with the children for a prayer service, the Primate encouraged them to cultivate a close friendship with Jesus Christ and to embrace a life rooted in daily prayer. He reminded the campers that prayer is a source of strength and guidance, enabling them to grow spiritually while remaining steadfast in their faith and values. Following the prayer service, Archbishop Derderian spent time interacting with the campers. He expressed his appreciation to the camp directors and teachers for the vibrant educational and spiritual environment fostered by the camp.

Reflecting on the camp's mission, Archbishop Derderian remarked, "I am truly delighted to see how the children are enthusiastic about learning about the Armenian Church, our history, and culture. They learn about the historical 'titans' of Armenian history, including prolific writers such as Paruyr Sevak and Vahan Tekeyan; artists such as Martiros Saryan and Minas Avetisyan; religious figures such as Komitas, Khrimian Hayrik, and many others." He commended the camp's dedicated leadership, counselors, and volunteers for nurturing the next generation by instilling a deep appreciation for the Armenian Christian faith, cultural heritage, and the enduring legacy of the Armenian people.
