Prayers And Picnic In Prescott, Arizona

On Sunday, June 28, 2026, the parishioners of St. Apkar Armenian Apostolic Church in Scottsdale and throughout the great Phoenix area, travelled north – to Prescott, Arizona – to visit the newly forming Armenian community.

The morning began with the celebration of the Divine Liturgy, followed by a picnic and fellowship. It was a wonderful day with nearly 90 people in attendance, including members of the Prescott community. There were also visitors from across Arizona.

Though the wind gusted in, faith and stories were shared around delicious food, which created a warm gathering. Such a day was the first of many future prayer services together. And by the grace of God, Prescott may soon become an Armenian mission parish community in Arizona, joining Tucson, which now serves nearly 140 Armenian families.

A heartfelt thank you to Seda Otto-Khodabakhshian and Amy Boladian for their dedication in organizing the gathering and bringing the local Prescott Armenian community together.

We look forward to welcoming all of our Arizona mission communities to St. Apkar Armenian Church in Scottsdale on September 19-20, 2026, as we celebrate the 17th anniversary of our parish.
