A Joyous Armenian Christmas Celebration at the Armenian Apostolic Church of Ventura County

On January 4, 2026, the Armenian Apostolic Church of Ventura County was blessed to welcome His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, who led the celebration of Armenian Christmas in a spiritually uplifting and deeply meaningful service. The presence of His Eminence made this holy day especially memorable for our Parish and all who gathered in worship.

Armenian Christmas, celebrated on January 6, commemorates both the Nativity and Theophany of our Lord Jesus Christ, preserving one of the Church’s most ancient Christian traditions. It is a celebration rooted in light, renewal, and faith—reminding us of Christ’s revelation to the world and the enduring strength of the Armenian Christian heritage.

Following the Divine Liturgy, parishioners and guests were invited to a special complimentary luncheon, generously prepared and hosted by the devoted volunteers of our Parish Council. Attendees enjoyed a beautiful display of traditional Armenian sweet and savory dishes, lovingly prepared and shared in the true spirit of hospitality. The fellowship continued as families, friends, and visitors gathered around the tables, strengthening bonds and celebrating together as one community.

Adding to the joy of the day was a special children’s performance, which delighted the congregation and reminded everyone of the importance of passing on our faith, culture, and traditions to the next generation. Their presence brought warmth, hope, and smiles to all in attendance.

This celebration was a powerful reflection of what makes our Church so special: faith, fellowship, service, and togetherness. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Parish Council and all the volunteers whose dedication and hard work made this event such a success.

Events like this embody the heart of the Armenian Apostolic Church of Ventura County—a welcoming spiritual home where worship, culture, and community come together. We warmly encourage all Armenians in the area, as well as friends and families seeking a faith-centered and culturally rich community, to join us for worship and fellowship throughout the year. Whether you are new to the area or looking to reconnect, our doors and hearts are always open.  The Armenian Apostolic Church meets on the Second and Fourth Sunday of each month at 12:15pm at 1 Church Road, Thousand Oaks, CA 91362.

May the light of Armenian Christmas continue to shine in our lives and strengthen our community in faith and love.
