Primate's Pastoral Visit to Pasadena's Armenian Day Schools

On October 20, 2025, His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Primate of the Western Diocese, accompanied by the Rev. Fr. Nzhdeh Keshishyan, paid a pastoral visit to the Hovsepian and Sahag-Mesrob Armenian Day Schools in Pasadena. The Archbishop was warmly welcomed at the entrance of the schools by the administration and faculty.

During this visit, His Eminence met with the students, engaged in heartfelt conversations, and offered prayers with them. Speaking about the significance of the month of October, Archbishop Derderian highlighted that it is a month of culture for the Armenian people. He made special reference to the Feast of the Holy Translators, which had recently been celebrated, reminding the students of the sacred legacy of St. Mesrob Mashdots and St. Sahag the Patriarch. His Eminence encouraged the students to speak and pray in Armenian, emphasizing that the Holy Translators created the Armenian alphabet and translated the Holy Scriptures out of love for their people.

The Archbishop then toured the classrooms, speaking and praying with students in each grade. The students received his words with great joy and expressed their hope that His Eminence would visit them again soon.
