On February 16, 2017, students from the Anania Shirakatsy Armenian National Lyceum in Yerevan visited the Nakashian Children’s Support Center. The visitors brought the girls in the Mer Hooys program at Nakashian books in celebration of “book giving day” in Armenia, which is celebrated on February 19. The Lyceum is an educational institution affiliated internationally with the International Baccalaureate Organization and Round Square. The program provides education to kindergarten through high school, and includes a 2-year baccalaureate diploma program available to teens in the 11th and 12th grades. Education at the Lyceum is conducted entirely in English, and provides the opportunity for students to enter and study at more than 2000 universities in the world.
The students from Anania Lyceum spent time with the girls from Mer Hooys sharing books, singing, dancing and interacting by sharing their knowledge, interests and talents. The interaction provided our Mer Hooys girls with an experience that opened their minds to the opportunities available to them if they study hard in their academics and English skills.
The Mer Hooys program provides a safe healthy living environment for children from socially disadvantaged or unsafe family environments. The primary focus of the program is to educate the children, both academically and in the area of social integration and community service. The visit by the Anania Lyceum students was a wonderful experience for the Mer Hooys children and staff.
