“Everything old passed away; see, everything has become new!” (2 Corinthians 5:17)
The light of Easter still shines in our hearts, and now we stand before the coming Sunday—Renewal Sunday, or New Sunday. This is not merely a continuation of the feast, but an invitation to a new life, an opportunity for a new beginning, when the light of the Resurrection calls us to change, to be transformed, and to be renewed.
New Sunday reminds us that the Resurrection of Jesus Christ is not only a historical event, but a living reality that must be reflected in our lives. We cannot say, “Christ is risen from the dead,” and remain the same. The Resurrection requires from us a new heart, a new way of thinking, and a new path. As the Apostle Paul says, “So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new!” (2 Corinthians 5:17).
New Sunday also reminds us of the joy experienced by the apostles. When they encountered the risen Lord, their fear disappeared and was replaced with boundless joy. That same joy is given to us today as well, if we truly accept Christ in our hearts. New Sunday invites us to live in that joy—not only for one day, but every day.
If Christ is risen, then our despair cannot overcome us. If He conquered death, then we too can overcome sin, fear, and doubt. The light of the Resurrection gives us strength to begin a new life—to become more loving, more forgiving, and more faithful.
May this New Sunday truly become a new beginning for each of us. May our faith be renewed, our love grow, and our hearts be filled with peace and grace. Let us live in such a way that our lives become a living testimony of the Resurrection of Christ.
