On May 29, 2025, the Feast of the Ascension of Christ, our Lord was celebrated at St. Leon Ghevontiants Armenian Cathedral with reverence and festivity. . The day began with the celebration of the Divine Liturgy, led by the Rev. Fr. Barsegh Pilavchyan, Pastor of the Armenian communities of the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Hungary. The sacred service, brought together clergy, parishioners, and guests in a spirit of unity and spiritual reflection on the significance of Christ’s Ascension.
Following the Liturgy, attendees gathered at the Paul Brothers Galleria, where a lively shopping experience awaited. A variety of boutique vendors offered handcrafted goods, Armenian art, jewelry, and other unique items, contributing to the festive atmosphere. The galleria buzzed with conversation, laughter, and a shared appreciation for Armenian culture and community.
At noon, the celebration continued with the Hampartzum gala banquet held at the Nazareth and Sima Kalaydjian Hall of the Western Diocese. The elegant event was sponsored by the esteemed diocesan benefactress Mrs. Alice Navasargian, whose generosity and support were graciously acknowledged. Mrs. Araxie Boyamian, Hampartzum Committee Co-Chair, offered warm welcoming remarks, setting the tone for a day of appreciation and fellowship.
A highlight of the banquet was the recognition of distinguished women from the Armenian-American community. Honorees included Houri Sonia Matossian, Kathy Agajanian, Christine Demiral, Janet Roberts, Anita Avedian, Sevan Asa Manouguian, Denise Hovsepian, and Yeranui Gevorkyan. Their commitment to faith, culture, and service was celebrated by all in attendance.
In his heartfelt address, Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Diocesan Primate, expressed deep gratitude to Mrs. Navasargian, praised the dedication of Committee Co-Chairs Mrs. Araxie Boyamian and Mrs. Heidi Kavoukjian, and honored the contributions of founding member Mrs. Hermine Janoyan.
The evening concluded with moving performances that elevated the celebratory spirit. Renowned violinist Ani Pivazyan captivated the audience with her musical artistry, while the Zvartnots Dance Ensemble, under the direction of Vartan and Armine Aghajanyan, delivered a vibrant display of traditional Armenian dance.
