The Western Diocese of the Armenian Church of North America hosted its Annual Christmas Children's Pageant on Friday, December 6, 2024, bringing together over 470 students from four esteemed Armenian schools: AGBU Manoogian-Demirdjian School, Sahag-Mesrob Armenian Christian School, Alfred and Marguerite Hovsepian School of St. Gregory Armenian Church, and Merdinian Armenian Evangelical School. The Diocesan Primate, clergy, and community members warmly welcomed the young participants, who filled the Diocesan campus with joyful Christmas cheer. The event celebrated the spirit of the season and the timeless story of Christ's miraculous birth.
A highlight of the pageant was the presentation of the Nativity story by the students of Merdinian Armenian Evangelical School. Their heartfelt and moving performance captured the true meaning of Christmas, showcasing the miraculous birth of Jesus Christ in Bethlehem. During the program, the Diocesan Primate expressed his deep appreciation for the school's interim principal, Shogher Shanoian, recognizing her leadership and dedication. As a token of gratitude, he presented her with a beautiful miniature painting, a gesture that underscored the Diocese’s commitment to fostering Christian education.
In his closing remarks, the Diocesan Primate extended heartfelt thanks to the principals, teachers, and students of all participating schools for their gracious involvement in this year’s pageant. He emphasized the importance of Christ's birth as the foundation of faith for every Christian and encouraged the children to carry the message of love and hope into their daily lives. The pageant served as a reminder of the unity and devotion that characterize the Armenian Church and its commitment to nurturing the spiritual growth of its youth.
The festive occasion concluded with a delightful surprise visit from Santa Claus, who brought joy to the children by singing and dancing alongside them. The students' laughter and excitement filled the air as they gathered for a celebratory pizza lunch in the Turpanjian Plaza.
