On May 25th, Abp. Hovnan Derderian, Primate of the Western Diocese, met with the board members of the Learning Mission who were accompanied by the Rev. Fr. Gomidas Zohrabian, Pastor of St. Gregory the illuminator Armenian Church of Fowler, who introduced Ruben Gargaloyan, the founder and president of the organization to the Diocesan Primate.
Mr. Gargolayan and his team provided a brief overview of the program, highlighted its mission, and stressed its accomplishments since the program's inception. The purpose of the Learning Mission is to aid the veterans from the recent war in Artsakh, especially those with disabilities, to rebuild their lives and careers. Many of the soldiers struggle with PTSD, depression, and other physical/mental disabilities. Through the Learning Mission, they are able to learn computer programming and English. They are also provided laptops and a stipend while they are studying. Once they complete their training and certifications, the program helps them find a job in the IT field.
With Abp. Hovnan Derderian’s blessing and support, the Learning Mission will continue to better the lives of veterans in Armenia by providing them with technological skills, English training, job security, and motivation to succeed.
