New Pastoral Assignments

We are delighted to inform the Diocesan faithful that with the blessings of the Diocesan Primate H.E. Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, the following Diocesan clergy will be taking on their new pastoral assignments.

After his decades-long service at the Western Diocese, the Rev. Archpriest Fr. Moushegh Tashjian will be retiring from the pastorate. Fr. Tashjian, who was honored by the Diocesan Primate as the Priest of the Year at the 92nd Annual Diocesan Assembly, will celebrate his last Divine Liturgy as the Pastor of St. Mary Armenian Church of Costa Mesa on Sunday, February 23rd.

The following pastoral assignments will be in effect as of March 1, 2020.

The Rev. Fr. Serovbe Alanjian (St. Sarkis, Santa Clariat) will assume the pastoral duties at St. Mary Armenian Church of Costa Mesa.

The Rev. Fr. Zaven Markosyan (St. Mary, Yettem) will assume the pastoral duties at St. Sarkis Armenian Church of Santa Clarita.

The Rev. Fr. Krikor Zakaryan (St. Garabed, Rancho Mirage) will assume the pastoral duties at St. Vartan Armenian Church of Oakland.

The Rev. Fr. Vazgen Boyajyan (Holy Resurrection, Seattle) will also serve as the visiting pastor of the Armenian community of Salt Lake City, Utah.

Archpriest Fr. Kevork Arakelian has been assigned as the visiting pastor of St. Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Church of Fowler.

The following Deacons have been assigned by the Primate to their respective duties.

Deacon Hovhannes Gumruyan has been assigned as the Superintendent of Saturday Schools of the Western Diocese.  

Deacon Gevorg Gevorgyan has been assigned as a visiting deacon at various Diocesan parishes to deliver spiritual messages.
