Catholicos of All Armenians has been Elected as the Honorable President of the “Religions for Peace” World Union

On September 25, Prof. Azza Karam, Secretary General of Religions for Peace International Union, and Rev. Father Kyoichi Sugino, Acting Secretary General, have officially notified to His Holiness Karekin I, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; that His Holiness has been nominated and elected as the Honorable President of the Union by the 700 delegates representing 125 countries and a variety of religious communities in the world during the 10th World Assembly of the “Religions for Peace” held from 20 to 23 August in Lindau, Germany.

The global “Religions for Peace” International Union comprises a World Council of various religious leaders of the world; six regional inter-religious bodies and more than 90 national ones as well as global interfaith youth unions with a view to promoting effective cooperation between different religious communities of the world for peace, establishing peace and global prosperity at world, regional and local levels with a view to promoting effective cooperation between different religious communities of the world, establishing peace and global prosperity in the world at regional and local levels.
