Celebrating Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow
Published - 29 September 2017

On Saturday, September 23, 2017, the parish of St. Apkar Armenian Apostolic Church of Scottsdale, AZ celebrated its 8th anniversary of consecration with a gala banquet. The day also marked the 10th anniversary of Rev. Fr. Zacharia Saribekyan’s pastoral service in the community as Parish Priest.

The evening began with a blessing in the Sanctuary by His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Primate of the Western Diocese of North America and the United States of Mexico.  A musical concert followed, performed by two of St. Apkar's very own: Violist Levon Zarasian and Pianist Elisabeth Pehlivanian.

Guests then moved into the Melikian Hall and Cultural Center in a warm and intimate dinner setting.  A delicious meal was served and hosted by the St. Apkar Ladies Society.  His Eminence opened the evening festivities with a speech and also awarded parishioners Ms. Ani Alexanian, Mrs. Irene Arustamov with Certificates of Blessing and Commendation. (Mrs. Margaret Ehramjian and Mr. Joseph Sahakian were not present to receive their certificates).

The evening had a comical edge with words delivered by Rev. Fr. Zacharia Saribekyan, who was also honored and gifted a cross for his service by His Eminence.

Congratulatory words by Mrs. Emma Melikian warmed the hearts of everyone who attended this memorable event; she thanked Fr. Zacharia for his ongoing service to our parish community and highlighted his dedication and passion for the church. Both the SR and JR ACYO members spoke about Fr. Zacharia and their experiences with their priest to close out the evening. We can certainly say with confidence, it was an evening to remember!
