On January 30, 2026, the ACYO Chapter of the Holy Apostles Armenian Church hosted a special event commemorating the feast of St. Sargis the General. With the participation of ACYO members from St. Leon Cathedral parish in Burbank, St. Peter Armenian Church in Van Nuys, and St. Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Church in Pasadena.

The youth gathered for an evening of faith, fellowship, and tradition. The program began an hour-long discussion on the life of St. Sargis, the meaning of sainthood, and the Armenian tradition of eating “aghi blit”. The discussion was led by Victoria Amran and included small group conversations, during which participants reflected together before a representative from each group shared their insights. During the discussion, the youth also put together the “aghi blits” and attached Bible verses centered on God’s love, reflecting the connection of the tradition to the youth.

Following the discussion, Rev. Fr. Gevork Abyan offered a reflection on the significance of the feast day and its connection to the youth of the Armenian Church. He then led the Rest Service, also known as “Hangstyan Zhamergutyun”, and conducted a blessing service for the youth, including the blessing of the “aghi blit”.
After the service, the ACYO youth gathered for a group photo. Dinner was then prepared and served by Holy Apostles ACYO members. The event provided a meaningful opportunity for youth from different parishes to meet, connect, and strengthen their bonds within the Armenian community and the Armenian Church. The evening concluded with traditional Armenian songs and dances, creating a joyful and memorable end to the celebration.
