We are proud to release the newest installment of our Educational Video Series on Liturgical Music, brought to you by the Institute of Armenian Sacred Music Project. This series is specially designed to help students and adults as emergent learners engage with and understand the rich tradition of Armenian liturgical music.
This initiative is kicking off with the Western Diocese of the Armenian Church of North America Sunday Schools (CEC), with a training session led by CEC Superintendent Zar Der Mugrdechian on Saturday, August 16, 2025.
Our instructional videos are based on the compositions of Makar Yekmalian, but have been personally adapted by our educators to better suit learners who are just starting out. We also continually update these videos with community feedback to ensure they remain a relevant and effective learning tool.
In these lessons, the instructor has thoughtfully adapted the material for learners of all levels, focusing on different cadences, tempos, and musical intricacies found in Armenian sacred hymns. Whether you're a beginner or more advanced, this video will guide you through key elements to improve your understanding and performance of the piece.
