On Sunday, July 13, 2025, the Armenian-American community gathered at St. Leon (Ghevontiants) Armenian Cathedral to celebrate the Divine Liturgy and honor the remarkable contributions of Dr. Hagop Panossian. A distinguished aerospace engineer, academic, philanthropist, and Founder of the ARPA (Analysis Research and Planning for Armenia) Institute, Dr. Panossian was recognized for his lifelong dedication to advancing scientific innovation and supporting Armenian causes worldwide. The  Divine Liturgy was celebrated by the Rev. Fr. Nzhdeh Keshishyan.

In a moving ceremony, His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Primate of the Western Diocese, introduced Dr. Panossian to the faithful, acknowledging his unparalleled contributions to both his professional field and the Armenian nation. Accompanied by his sons, Dr. Panossian humbly received the Pontifical Encyclical of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, as a testament to his service and philanthropy. The St. Sahag – St. Mesrob medal, presented by the Primate following the reading of the Pontifical Encyclical, symbolized the Armenian Church’s deep appreciation for Dr. Panossian’s enduring commitment to cultural preservation and national progress.

The celebration was not only a recognition of individual achievement but also a reminder of the power of faith, education, and service in uniting a community. As the congregation applauded Dr. Panossian’s honor, the day stood as an inspiration for future generations to follow in his footsteps, dedicating their lives to the betterment of both their homeland and the diaspora.
