Reclaiming Gomidas as a Vartabed of the Armenian Church

His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Primate of the Western Diocese, is pleased to announce that Reclaim 2019 will be held on April 6 at the Western Diocese of the Armenian Church in Burbank California.

This year’s topic: Reclaiming Gomidas as a Vartabed of the Armenian Church. The prolific and legendary clergyman of the Armenian Church, Gomidas, is known for a wide variety of talents, among them his prowess sacred and folk music. But Gomidas, was first and foremost a follower of Jesus Christ and expressed his faith through the Armenian Apostolic Church, as a Vartabed (Doctor/Teacher).

“This is the 150^th Anniversary of the genius Gomidas,” said Archbishop Derderian, “And this year we are dedicating the Reclaim conference to his blessed memory, reminding everyone of his monumental contributions to the Armenian Church as a Vartabed.”

Reclaim was first organized in 2017 as a means of bringing attention to the ever expanding Christian mission of the Western Diocese. Hundreds of faithful have participated in the wide variety of programs offered in previous Reclaim Conferences. This year will be no different. Mark your calendars now.
