Primate Pays Pastoral Visit to St. Apkar Armenian Church – Ordains Altar Servers

The faithful of St. Apkar Armenian Church received the blessings of His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Primate, who travelled to Scottsdale on May 13, 2017. On his pastoral visit, His Eminence granted four minor orders of acolyte to Hagop Alashanian, William Papazian, Michael Papazian and Sam Brown.

Assisted by the Rev. Fr. Zacharia Saribekyan, the Primate ordained Danny Khalafaghian, Peter Touresian, Mardiros Najarian and Thomas Boyadjian into the Diaconate.

Following the ordination service, the faithful took part in a spiritually uplifting ceremony as Archbishop Derderian consecrated a cross-stone (khatchkar) in the courtyard of the church. The khatchkar, a gift from the faithful community, was dedicated to all mothers.

His Eminence congratulated all mothers on Mother’s Day, wishing them long and healthy lives and steadfastness in their God-pleasing endeavors.

Following the ceremonial rite, the the church group Hye-Ways hosted a Mother’s Day Tea in the Melikian Hall.
