Abp. Hovnan Derderian Scholarship Fund’s Appreciation Dinner

A dinner in appreciation of all donors and supporters of the Archbishop Hovnan Derderian Scholarship Fund was organized by the Scholarship Fund Committee on Thursday, February 9, 2017.  The prestigious Bistro Gardens in Studio City was the venue for the event themed “No Child Left Behind.”

Welcoming remarks were delivered by Chairlady Alice Chakrian who expressed her wholehearted gratitude to all donors and reflected on the overall success of the Scholarship Fund. A financial report on the Fund’s successes and accomplishments was presented by Scholarship Fund committee member Eileen Keusseyan.  

In his remarks, Archbishop Hovnan Derderian commended the stellar work of the Scholarship Fund Committee noting the unrelenting dedication of the Chairlady Alice Chakrian and her committee members. The Primate also conveyed his sincere appreciation to all donors for their engagement in the noble mission.  

Archbishop Derderian spoke about the urgency for reaching out to the youth. “The youth needs guidance and understanding, but above all, practical help. Therefore, it is our obligation to provide our youth with scholarship opportunities, connections, networking, access to land dream jobs, thus becoming part of their success,” said Archbishop Derderian in part. “Together we will work harder to ensure the growth of scholarship. This is our common vision and our goal.”

Since its inception five years ago, the Abp. Hovnan Derderian Scholarship Fund has raised and provided over $130,000 in the form of scholarships to local Armenian Schools.
