The Annual Women’s Prayer Day was hosted by the Western Diocese of the Armenian Church of North America on Wednesday, March 6, 2019. Held under the auspices of the Diocesan Primate Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, more than 150 women participated in the spiritually enriching event organized by the Ladies Society Central Council.

Commencing with a Morning Prayer Service in the sanctuary of St. Leon (Srbots Ghevontiants) Armenian Cathedral, members of the Ladies Society Central Council (LSCC) shared their reflections of serving the Church and the family as well as the roles of influential women who had impacted their lives immensely.  Highlights from the remarkable life of St. Teresa of Calcutta (Mother Teresa) inspired the women to renew their calling and commitment to service.

In their homilies, the Diocesan clergy referenced to the significant role of women in the life of the Armenian Church and their invaluable contributions toward the preservation of the sacred traditions and values of an Armenian Christian Family.

LSCC’s tradition of honoring dedicated women continued this year as Debbie Avedian, Eleonora Hayrapetian, Karine Aboolian and Alice Kavaldjian were honored with Certificates of Recognition and Appreciation. In his remarks, Archbishop Derderian congratulated the honorees, wishing them continued success in their God-pleasing endeavors. The Primate also expressed his gratitude to the Ladies Society Central Council for their outstanding organizational skills in ensuring yet another successful and memorable function.

The event concluded with a Lenten reception and musical entertainment in the Nazareth and Sima Kalaydjian Hall where the participants posed for a group photo with the Primate and the Diocesan clergy.
