Western Diocese Hosts a Reception in honor of His Excellency Armen Baibourtian, Consul General of the Republic of Armenia in Los Angeles

A reception in honor of His Excellency Armen Baibourtian, Consul General of the Republic of Armenia in Los Angeles, was held at the Western Diocese of the Armenian Church on Tuesday, November 27, 2018. His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Diocesan Primate, His Excellency Armen Baibourtian, Consul General, His Eminence Archbishop Pargev Martirosyan, Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Church of Artsakh, His Excellency Vahagn Melikyan, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, His Eminence Archbishop Aram Ateshian, Patriarchal Vicar of the Armenian Patriarchate of Istanbul, His Grace Bishop Hovnan Hakobyan, Grand Sacristan of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Grace Bishop Armash Nalbandian, Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Church of Damascus, Joseph Kanimian, Esq., Chairman of the Diocesan Council as well as Diocesan clergy, benefactors and donors.

Welcoming remarks were delivered by the Diocesan Primate in which His Eminence commended Mr. Baibourtian’s dedicated service to ensuring strong and prosperous diplomatic ties between the Diaspora and the Republic of Armenia. Expressing his gratitude for the cordial reception, Mr. Baibourtian reflected on the selfless pastoral service of Archbishop Derderian and his loyalty and steadfastness to the Armenian Apostolic Church and the flock of Christ. “We are faced with a number challenges the most important of which is the preservation of the Armenian identity. The Diocesan missions, namely pilgrimages, which aim to awaken in the hearts of the youth the love for Armenia play a vital role in solidifying this sacred bond,” said Consul General Baibourtian.

Remarks were also made by His Eminence Archbishop Aram Ateshian, who provided a glimpse into the life of the Armenian community in Turkey. His Eminence Archbishop Pargev Martirosyan stressed the importance of contributing to the rebuilding process of our ancestral lands of Armenia and Arstakh. Speaking about the present political climate in Armenia, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Mr. Vahagn Melikian noted the indomitable spirit of the Armenian people and the need to unify as one naton.
