Cathedral's Ladies Guild Hosts 8th Annual Summer Night at the Turpanjian Plaza

Under the auspices of His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian Primate of the Diocese and organized by St. Leon Armenian Cathedral Ladies Guild Committee of the Western Diocese, the 8th annual Summer Night dinner under the stars at the Turpanjian Plaza was held on August 23, 2018.

The event was attended by the Diocesan Primate, the Rev. Fr. Khajag Shahbazyan, Parish priest of St. Leon Armenian Cathedral, the Rev. Fr. Serope Alanjian, Parish priest of St. Sarkis Armenian Church of Santa Clarita, Diocesan Council member Mr. Vahe Skenderian with his wife Alice, Mrs. Alice Chakrian, Chair of the Agape Circle, Mrs. Silvana Vartanian, Chair of Nerouj.

Also present at the event AGBU Western District, office manager, communication outreach, Hampig Sinanian, Chair of AGBU Asbeds and Shoghig Vartzbedian, Chair of AGBU Young Ladies.

Welcoming remarks was addressed by Araxie Boyamian, Chair of St. Leon Armenian Cathedral Ladies Guild who welcomed the guests and said "Tonight's Gathering is a Musical Tribute to Artists who shaped a new style, and opened a new door of hope to the Armenian music for the future generation."

She thanked Ladies Guild committee members for their commitment, dedication and take pride in making this event a successful one. Also she thanked all the donors, and the sponsors especially Mrs. Sybille Aprahamian who always supports Cathedral's Guild events.

His Eminence congratulated the honorees and wished them more vigor and perseverance in serving the Armenian culture. The Invocation was offered by Fr.  Khajag Parish priest who later invited the Primate to deliver his words of appreciation. His Eminence commended the artists for their zeal in promoting and preserving the Armenian culture.

Anna Mouradian, Chief Deputy of Supervisor Kathryn Barger, presented a Certificate of Recognition from the Fifth District of the County of Los Angeles to the artists Noro, Joseph Krikorian, Andre, Anush Petroyan, Gagik Badalian and Arminka. 

The evening’s Master of Ceremonies Vania Vartzbedian read a brief biography  after which the honorees joined the clergy and the ladies of the guild in cutting the commemorative cake. 

Under the direction of Lou Varoujan the musical Director, the honorees enthralled the audience with their popular songs. The attendants enjoyed the dinner catered by Ritz Celebration, and returned home culturally enriched.
