The first clergy conference of 2018, presided by His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Primate of the Western Diocese of the Armenian Church of North America, convened on Tuesday, February 6, at Ararat Home in Mission Hills. “Christian Brotherhood” was the main theme of the conference.
In his remarks, Archbishop Derderian reflected on the declaration of the year 2018 as the Year of the Youth by His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians. The clergy were encouraged to continue actively supporting Diocesan Youth missions such as CYMA, ACYO, Nerouj, as well as Saturday and Sunday Schools. Easter pilgrimages to the Holy Land organized by St. Mary Armenian Church of Costa Mesa and St. Andrew Armenian Church of Cupertino as well as pilgrimages to Armenia organized by St. Vartan Armenian Church of Oakland, St. Sarkis Armenian Church of Santa Clarita and St. James Armenian Church of Los Angeles were announced at the clergy conference. Planned events for the Centennial celebration of the First Republic of Armenia were also discussed.

“The New Commandment – Love One Another” (Rev. Fr. Yessai Bedros)
“Call to Unity as stated in the St. Paul’s Epistle to the Ephesians” (Rev. Fr. Avedis Abovian)
“The role and responsibility of a disciple of Christ” (Archpriest Fr. Sarkis Petoyan)
“Brotherhood and Church Unity” (Rev. Fr. Krikor Zakaryan)
His Eminence expressed his gratitude to the clergy for their attendance and participation. The conference concluded with the Primate’s closing prayer.
At noon, the clergy were invited to take part in the monthly luncheon organized by the Board of Trustees of Ararat Home.
