Primate Presides Over Annual Gala Banquet at St. Andrew Armenian Church -  Celebrates the Divine Liturgy on Following Day and Ordains Altar Servers

On February 3, 2018, His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Primate of the Western Diocese of the Armenian Church of North America presided over the annual gala banquet at St. Andrew Armenian Church in Cupertino. In recognition of their dedicated service to St. Andrew Armenian Church parishioners Anahit Vardanian, Lilian Bezdikian, Taline Yerganian, Vicken Poladian and Aram Karabetyan were honored with the Diocesan Hye Spirit medals. Messages of Blessing and Commendation were presented to Greg Vartanian, Karina Poladian and Knarig Charekian.

In his remarks, Archbishop Derderian commended the pastoral leadership of Fr. Datev Harutyunian, noting the priest’s dedicated service to the flock of Christ. The Primate encouraged all auxiliary bodies of the parish to remain steadfast in their ancestral Christian Faith and to strengthen their communities through the divine love of Christ, our Lord.   

On the following day, Archbishop Derderian celebrated the Divine Liturgy and delivered the sermon. During the service, the family of St. Andrew Armenian Church witnessed the ordination of six altar servers. With the assistance of Archpriest Fr. Alec Yerganian and Matthew Forman were ordained by the Primate into the Diaconate. Roman Hovakimian, Nicholas Otte, Greg Barsegyan and Mikael Barsegyan were granted four minor orders of acolyte. Archbishop Derderian congratulated the altar servers calling upon them to renew their commitment of service to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church.
