Remembering Jon Huntsman (1937 – 2018)

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that share the sad news of the passing of Mr. Jon Huntsman Sr. (80) - global manufacturer, one of the world’s most generous philanthropists and a longtime friend of Armenia. Armenia’s president and other world leaders have conveyed their condolences to Mrs. Huntsman and his entire family.

Huntsman’s philanthropic giving both domestically and internationally have exceeded $1.5 billion, focusing on cancer research, education and humanitarian aid. He contributed over $50 million to reconstruction and relief efforts in Armenia after the devastating earthquake of 1988, undertook a number of crucial project, such as building new schools, plants and hospitals, and provided scholarships to Armenian students to continue their research in the US.

Mr. Huntsman has been granted Armenian citizenship and awarded two medals of honor, including the Order of St. Mesrop Mashtots.

Jon Huntsman’s legacy will continue to live in the hearts of millions, whose lives have been touched by his generosity. Our thoughts and prayers today go out to Mr. Huntsman’s family, friends and loved ones.
